Tetra Tech, Inc. announced that the City of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, awarded the company a contract to provide engineering design and technical services for the state's first indirect potable reuse (IPR) project. This project builds upon Tetra Tech’s initial IPR pilot study.

Tetra Tech engineers and technical specialists will design innovative IPR solutions to expand the Chickasaw Wastewater Treatment Plant’s capacity by 15 percent. The advanced treatment processes will treat up to 50 percent of daily wastewater flows.

These treated flows will be redirected several miles upstream into the Caney River to be recaptured, retreated, and distributed through the City’s water system during times of extreme drought. This initiative is expected to extend Bartlesville's water supply by up to 40 years and support Oklahoma’s 'Water for 2060' goals.
