TETRA Technologies, Inc. announced the commercial launch of TETRA Oasis TDS, an end-to-end water treatment and desalination technology. This solution is designed for beneficial re-use and mineral extraction from oil and gas well produced water, addressing a critical industry challenge.
The company recently completed a commercial pilot project in the Delaware Basin for a major North American oil and gas operator, where TETRA Oasis TDS successfully treated produced water. The desalinated water met or exceeded all customer key performance indicators and passed all third-party Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) testing, which is crucial for regulatory permitting.
A previous field pilot achieved a 92% recovery rate of desalinated water with total dissolved solids levels ranging from 40 to 200 parts per million, surpassing average municipal drinking water standards. Rystad Energy estimates the Permian Basin alone generates 8.3 billion barrels of produced water in 2024, with a $4 billion annual market opportunity for treatment, highlighting the significant addressable market for TETRA's new solution. TETRA also made an equity investment in KMX Technologies Inc., one of the exclusive membrane technology providers for Oasis TDS.
