Unity Software Inc. and Epic Games announced a partnership on November 19 2025 at Unity’s Unite developer conference, allowing Unity developers to publish their games within Fortnite’s discovery system and giving them access to the Fortnite ecosystem’s more than 500 million registered accounts and its evolving Creator Economy.

Under the deal, Unity’s cross‑platform commerce platform will also support Unreal Engine, enabling developers to manage digital catalogs, pricing, promotions, and live operations across PC, mobile, and web. The partnership will be available to developers early in 2026, giving them a new channel to reach Fortnite’s massive player base while expanding Unity’s commerce capabilities into the Unreal ecosystem.

Unity’s Q3 2025 results—released on November 5—showed revenue of $471 million, up 5 % year‑over‑year, and a GAAP net loss of $127 million. Adjusted EBITDA reached $109 million, beating analyst expectations and underscoring the company’s AI‑driven growth. The Grow Solutions segment grew 6 % to $318 million, driven largely by the Unity Ad Network powered by Vector AI, while Create Solutions grew 3 % to $152 million. These results give the partnership a strong financial backdrop and demonstrate Unity’s focus on monetizing AI tools and expanding its developer ecosystem.

Epic Games reported 2024 revenue of $5.7 billion, a 30 % increase from 2023, and has recently updated its Fortnite Creator Economy to allow direct item sales by creators and revised payout formulas. The partnership gives Unity developers new monetization channels within Fortnite, while Epic gains access to Unity’s large developer community and its AI‑enhanced tools.

Both CEOs highlighted the goal of building an “open, interoperable future” and an “open metaverse.” The collaboration addresses competitive pressures by letting Unity tap into Epic’s massive user base and Unreal Engine support, while Epic expands its reach into Unity’s developer ecosystem. The partnership therefore strengthens both companies’ positions in the game‑engine market and supports their broader strategy of open, cross‑platform ecosystems.

Analysts upgraded Unity after its Q3 earnings beat, with Citigroup raising its target to $52 and Macquarie upgrading to Outperform. The partnership is viewed as a positive strategic move that could drive future growth, reinforcing Unity’s momentum and Epic’s Creator Economy expansion.

The collaboration signals Unity’s continued push toward an open ecosystem and AI‑driven monetization, while Epic leverages Unity’s developer base to deepen its Creator Economy. The partnership is expected to be available to developers early 2026, positioning both companies for expanded reach and revenue opportunities.
