Uber announced a $200 million investment over five years to establish a software and technology development center in Istanbul, Turkey.
The center will be Uber’s fourth global tech hub, joining Brazil, India, and the Netherlands, and will focus on AI, mapping, routing, and backend infrastructure for ridesharing, delivery, and freight.
The investment follows Uber’s acquisition of an 85% stake in Trendyol Go earlier in 2025, which added 180 engineers and reinforced the company’s presence in Turkey.
Turkey’s growing R&D workforce and government support for tech startups make it an attractive location for Uber’s expansion.
The move is part of Uber’s broader strategy to diversify beyond ride‑hailing, emphasizing delivery, freight, and new mobility technologies, and to tap emerging markets as growth slows in the U.S. market.
Uber’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi highlighted Istanbul’s talent pool and strategic position between Europe and Asia as key drivers for the investment.
