UL Solutions announced that Schneider Electric’s PowerPacT™ Molded Case Circuit Breakers have earned the company’s first ECOLOGO certification for an industrial product. The award was presented at the Innovation Summit North America in Las Vegas on November 18, 2025, and is based on UL’s 2711 standard for the sustainability of energy and industrial automation equipment.
The certification marks a strategic expansion of UL’s long‑standing ECOLOGO program—originally launched in 1988 and acquired by UL in 2010—into the industrial sector. By adding a high‑profile customer like Schneider, UL opens a new revenue stream from certification fees and ongoing compliance support, a key component of its post‑IPO growth strategy that began in April 2025.
For Schneider, the award reinforces its sustainability narrative. The company has been recognized as the world’s most sustainable corporation by Corporate Knights (2021) and runs the Schneider Sustainability Impact program. The ECOLOGO label gives Schneider a science‑backed, life‑cycle‑based ecolabel that differentiates its PowerPacT breakers in a market increasingly demanding green certification.
The certification evaluates materials, manufacturing processes, health and safety, and product life‑cycle, aligning with global procurement and regulatory expectations. As demand for green certifications rises in industrial automation and power distribution, the ECOLOGO label positions both UL and Schneider to capture new market share and meet customer ESG goals.
Bin Lu, Executive Vice President of Power Products at Schneider, said the certification “sets a new standard for transparency and accountability in manufacturing, helping our customers deploy lower‑carbon energy technology at scale.” Jeff Smidt, Senior Vice President of Testing, Inspection and Certification at UL, added that the award “highlights how certification can support manufacturers in meeting market and regulatory expectations while strengthening customer trust.” Gitte Schjøtz, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Operations and Innovations Officer at UL, noted that the program “provides a credible, science‑backed pathway for companies to validate sustainability claims and meet growing market and regulatory demands.”
