UL Solutions announced the expansion of its smoke detection device sensitivity testing to its Suzhou, China, laboratory. This move enhances in-region accessibility and efficiency for product research and development.
The Suzhou facility can now test smoke detection devices according to various sensitivity test requirements of UL 268 and UL 217 Standards. These standards were updated to mitigate cooking nuisance alarms and improve detection of fires involving modern materials.
This investment supports UL Solutions' mission of advancing fire safety globally, particularly as manufacturers in China and East Asia supply a significant portion of smoke alarms and detectors to North America and other markets. Suzhou is now the second global location offering this specialized testing.
