UL Solutions Inc. announced plans to develop a new advanced automotive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) laboratory in Toyota City, Japan. This facility aims to provide testing services to help manufacturers protect against electromagnetic interference that can cause critical vehicle systems to malfunction.
The UL Solutions Automotive Technology and Innovation Center is expected to open during the second half of 2026 in Japan’s Tokai region, a center for the automotive industry. It is anticipated to be one of the few EMC laboratories in Japan equipped for high-voltage, high-current, and high-torque testing, simulating real-world operating conditions.
This strategic investment aligns with Japan's leadership in the global automotive sector, which produced around 9 million vehicles in 2023. The automotive EMC testing market was valued at an estimated $1.7 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $2.7 billion by 2030, indicating significant demand for advanced testing capabilities.
