Faith-based shareholders of UnitedHealth Group have withdrawn their proposal requesting the company to prepare a report on the costs and public health impact of its practices that limit or delay access to healthcare.
The proposal had been challenged twice by UnitedHealth, citing a recent change in SEC guidance. The withdrawal means the company will not be compelled to produce the requested report at this time.
This outcome removes a potential source of negative publicity and regulatory pressure for UnitedHealth regarding its coverage denial practices. The shareholders, however, retain the option to reintroduce the proposal in the future.
