Kinetic, a brand of Uniti, announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for theft or vandalism of its copper and fiber infrastructure in North Carolina. This initiative addresses a series of incidents that have severely impacted connectivity for residents and businesses.
Recent cases in Moore, Richmond, and Forsyth Counties involved thieves cutting copper and fiber optic cables, stealing critical infrastructure. These acts have disrupted essential services, including 911 access, for over 50 customers in Moore County, with some experiencing multiple outages since mid-July.
Stacy Hale, President of Kinetic’s Southeast Operations, emphasized that these are not victimless crimes, directly attacking public safety and well-being. Kinetic is enhancing integration with local law enforcement and deploying active deterrent measures, while urging community vigilance to prevent further disruptions.
