VIAVI Solutions Inc. and Hanyang University, a leading South Korean academic institution, announced on June 10, 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on AI-RAN, 5G, and 6G research. This partnership will take place at the university's Beyond-G Global Innovation Center, with VIAVI contributing wireless lab test solutions and expertise. Hanyang University will become a VIAVI 6G Forward academic partner.
The Beyond-G Global Innovation Center was selected in 2024 by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea for the next-generation communication category of the Global Innovation Research Center (IRC) Support Project. This large-scale research project grants over KRW 5 billion annually for 10 years, aiming to build an international research network and lead the development of next-generation communication technology.
To meet the Beyond-G Center's objectives, VIAVI will contribute its NITRO Wireless test and optimization suite, including a 6G testbed, used by leading network equipment manufacturers, service providers, and research institutions. Dr. Sameh Yamany, Chief Technology Officer, VIAVI, stated that VIAVI is proud to partner with Hanyang University to research and advance next-generation communication technologies, enabling high-quality interoperable telecom infrastructure and associated services progressively towards 6G.
