On July 10, 2025, Viking Holdings Ltd announced its first river voyages in India, to be conducted on the new 80-guest Viking Brahmaputra. This vessel is specifically designed for the Brahmaputra River and is currently under construction, with a scheduled debut in late 2027.
The Viking Brahmaputra will sail between Guwahati and Nimati Ghat in Assam as part of Viking’s new 15-day 'Wonders of India' itinerary. This program includes an eight-day river voyage complemented by a fully-guided land program with overnights in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur.
This strategic expansion into India represents a new market entry for Viking, aiming to introduce curious travelers to the country's cultural treasures. The new itinerary offers 13 included tours and opportunities to experience up to 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, catering to Viking's destination-focused approach.
