Vinci Partners Investments Ltd. announced on November 4, 2024, the signing and closing of an agreement to acquire Lacan Ativos Reais, a prominent alternative asset manager specializing in the forestry segment in Brazil. This acquisition immediately launches Vinci's new Forestry strategy, adding approximately R$1.5 billion in assets under management to its platform. Lacan brings deep expertise and a proven track record in managing 130,000 hectares of planted forests and preserved areas.
Alessandro Horta, Vinci Partners' Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the forestry sector in Brazil as a prime opportunity for capital deployment, highly complementary to Vinci's existing product offerings. Lacan's team, led by founder Luiz Augusto Candiota, manages closed-end investment vehicles with long-term lockups and fee rates exceeding the average for Vinci's Private Markets strategy. All of Lacan's operations are 100% FSC-certified, focusing on planting exclusively on cleared or degraded lands, reinforcing a commitment to sustainable environmental stewardship.
The transaction includes an initial cash component, with additional cash considerations through earnout structures over a period of up to four years, contingent upon fundraising and incremental management fee revenues. The acquisition is expected to be immediately accretive to Fee Related Earnings per share and Distributable Earnings per share, impacting Vinci's AUM and segment results starting in the fourth quarter of 2024.
