Waters Corporation announced on January 22, 2025, the launch of TGA Smart-Seal™ Pans from its TA Instruments Division. These innovative, self-opening sample containers are designed to enable the analysis of atmosphere-sensitive samples in laboratory benchtop-installed Discovery™ Series Thermogravimetric Analyzers (TGA).
The TGA Smart-Seal Pans eliminate the need to operate TGAs inside atmosphere-controlled gloveboxes, which can double the cost of a TGA setup and increase maintenance expenses. This groundbreaking solution delivers reliable, accurate TGA data at a lower cost within a traditional laboratory environment.
The user-friendly pans allow air-sensitive materials to be prepared, loaded, and sealed in an airtight environment, with a proprietary temperature-sensitive shape memory alloy configuration automatically opening the pan at around 55°C. This innovation can reduce operating expenses and workflow bottlenecks, potentially allowing labs to support twice as many TGA instruments for nearly the same price and achieve higher throughput.
