Motiv Electric Trucks, Workhorse Group's merger partner, announced on September 23, 2025, the delivery of four fully-electric Type B school buses to D&M Tours for operation in the Teaneck, Midland Park, and Ramsey public school districts in New Jersey. These zero-tailpipe emission buses, manufactured by Motiv and upfitted by Van-Con, Inc., will replace aging gasoline buses.
The electric school buses feature Motiv’s proven EPIC 4 platform and Van-Con’s school bus body, eliminating idling, noise, vibrations, tailpipe pollution, and CO2 emissions. This provides students with a healthier, quieter, and safer ride to school, especially benefiting special needs children who spend more time on buses.
The project is expected to avoid up to 3,000 gallons of fossil fuel annually and eliminate over 2 million pounds of tailpipe emissions over the 15-year useful life of the project. An analysis from the Electric School Bus Initiative estimates that each electric school bus can save the district over $100,000 in lifetime fuel and maintenance costs compared to an equivalent diesel bus.
