Willis Lease Finance Corporation announced on March 19, 2025, that its subsidiary, Willis Engine Repair Center (WERC), entered into a joint venture with Global Engine Maintenance (GEM). The new entity, named Willis Global Engine Testing (WGET), will build an engine test cell facility in West Palm Beach, Florida.
This initiative directly addresses a significant shortage of engine test cell facilities in North America, which currently hinders the efficient return of engines to service. The facility will initially service CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engines, with future capabilities for newer generation engine types.
CEO Austin C. Willis stated that this investment in services is expected to improve turnaround times for customer shop visits for WLFC, GEM, and third-party customers. The joint venture plans to break ground on the site in late 2025, enhancing operational efficiency and creating a new revenue stream.
