ZenaTech, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZENA) opened a new office in Manassas, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C., to bring its defense‑focused drone subsidiary, ZenaDrone, closer to federal program managers, procurement officials, and congressional leaders. The move is designed to accelerate collaboration on evolving defense priorities and to position the company for faster engagement with U.S. military and NATO customers.

The Washington, D.C. office will house ZenaDrone’s core defense functions—business development, capture, and program support—and will recruit two business‑development professionals to drive federal initiatives. The expansion signals ZenaTech’s commitment to deepening its presence in the federal ecosystem and to building a robust pipeline of defense contracts.

ZenaTech’s U.S. manufacturing footprint is expanding in Mesa, Arizona, where the company is tripling the size of its ZenaDrone operations to enable full U.S. assembly, production, and testing of its AI‑driven drones. The company’s flagship ZenaDrone 1000, a medium‑size vertical‑takeoff and landing platform that can lift 40 kg, has completed paid trials with the U.S. Air Force and Navy Reserve and is pursuing Green UAS and Blue UAS certifications to qualify as a U.S. defense supplier.

Financially, ZenaTech reported a 1,225% year‑over‑year revenue increase in Q3 2025, driven largely by its Drone‑as‑a‑Service segment, which generated CAD 3.57 million compared to zero in Q3 2024. However, the company posted a net loss of CAD 12.27 million in the quarter, up from a modest loss in Q3 2024, reflecting continued investment in product development and market expansion. The company’s cash burn remains high, but management views the defense expansion as a long‑term revenue driver that will offset short‑term losses.

CEO Shaun Passley said, “Having a Washington‑based presence and local business development means we can engage directly with defense program offices and shape requirements early to win federal contracts through established DoW procurement channels.” He added, “By positioning our team inside the federal ecosystem and combined with our U.S.‑based drone production operations in Arizona, we are building a strong foundation for defense revenue growth, advancing American‑built drone systems at the speed and scale the U.S. military and NATO now requires.”
