CenterPoint Energy announced the completion of all 42 critical initial actions and commitments made to state leaders and customers following Hurricane Beryl. These actions were designed to immediately strengthen the electric system and improve storm response, and all were achieved ahead of schedule.
This initial phase included the completion of 350 miles of newly hardened power lines across the Greater Houston area. Other key actions involved trimming or removing higher-risk vegetation from over 2,000 power line miles, installing more than 1,100 stronger poles, and deploying over 300 automated devices.
With these commitments fulfilled, CenterPoint is now fully focused on delivering Phase Two of the Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative. This next phase includes an additional suite of hardening actions to further prepare for the 2025 storm season and beyond, aiming to enable a self-healing system and reduce outage impacts.
