CPKC and CSX Launch Southeast Mexico Express, Creating Faster Freight Solutions

On July 21, 2025, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and CSX Corporation announced the creation of the Southeast Mexico Express (SMX), a new rail transportation routing option. This east-west Class 1 corridor officially launched on December 1, 2024, connecting shippers in Mexico, Texas, and the U.S. Southeast.

The SMX is already providing automotive, intermodal, and carload customers with faster transit times, greater capacity, and environmentally sustainable rail solutions. CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel highlighted that this unique collaboration leverages the strengths of both companies to deliver enhanced efficiency and reliability.
